Amagansett Addition And The Guest House Creating Class
The customer, a bachelor, discovered that his current home, which was situated on a hill overlooking Amagansett Beach, was insufficient for entertaining his large group of friends and family over the summer. The existing pool deck offers breathtaking panoramic views of the ocean, so maximising the vista and making a seamless transition from inside to outside was crucial in the design of this 5,000-square-foot modular guest house extension.
Guest House’s Entrance And View
Because the customer requested that the original house be preserved, a huge auto court was built to allow visitor ingress. A new site-built garage is also cantilevered from the bluff. The court maintains views of the ocean thanks to a big hydraulically operated glass garage door and floor-to-ceiling glazing opposite the garage entrance. Guests are directed from the gravel auto court to the guest house entry by cedar trellises, while screen walls provide privacy at the existing house’s door.
The guest house’s entrance connects the old and new, allowing the client to lock off the main house from visitors when they want privacy. The vista from the vehicle court over the length of the property is preserved by large pocketing glass entry doors. The extension contains a site-built squash court to the left of the doorway, as well as glass-lined corridors leading to an open living room that can accommodate large groups for poolside events. Folding glass doors run the length of the south side of the building, allowing for easy access to the decks outdoors while keeping unobstructed views of the ocean.
Folding Glass Doors Opening To Large Entry Doors
When the customer wants seclusion, the guest house’s entry joins the old and new, allowing them to close off the main house from visitors. Large pocketing glass entry doors preserve the view from the vehicle court over the length of the property. To the left of the doorway, there is a site-built squash court, as well as glass-lined passageways that lead to an open living space that can accommodate large groups for poolside activities. Folding glass doors run the length of the building’s south side, providing simple access to the decks while maintaining unobstructed views of the ocean.
