Steel Structures- A Modern Construction Solution
Two different materials are pitted against each other in the construction literature: steel against wood, or steel versus concrete. Some of the most attractive and innovative designs, on the other hand, combine materials to achieve the best from both worlds. Here is what each one has to offer and how each one can be complementary.
Steel Structures
can withstand high winds and even earthquakes and is extremely weatherproof, making it an excellent choice for hurricane-prone regions. The advantage of steel building is that the projects can move faster as steel beams can be produced off-site and transported when ready for construction. Steel framing is also easier to coordinate because the weight of wood bolts is one-third. Steel is fully recoverable, which has been recycled annually for about 80 million tonnes by 2012. After their life has ended, all new steel products made from recycled steel can be recycled. Steel is a durable and economical manufacturer
Wood, a hundred-year-old construction material, is relatively light and easy to change to achieve the goals of the project. It is more susceptible to water, fire, pests, and deterioration but it offers strength, insulation and beauty. Woodgrain can be one of the natural surfaces with subtle textures and colours which form a striking surface.
Some woods improve acoustics and sound absorption, reducing echoes and acoustics, while others improve aesthetics or insulation. In consequence, wood is used frequently in concert halls. Responsible wood production is renewable; forests regenerate and benefit from a range of benefits
Beton is a very cheap building material that is widely available. Due to the mass and bulk of reinforced cemented buildings, winds of over 200 miles an hour can withstand the disasters caused by natural as well as human beings. Because concrete is a poor heat conductor, it can store plenty of heat. It’s also stronger than wood, which means it matches well with steel.
Concrete can be mixed into different forms on site by changing the shape and mixture to fit countertops, floors, and other aesthetic applications. Concrete can have a very modern and long-lasting architecture when complemented by steel in construction.
